About me

I’ve always been a passionate seeker of the Truth. As long as I can remember I’ve been curious about spiritual matters. What are we doing here? Is there a purpose to the universe? Is there really a God? Is there life after death?

My questions have taken me on a rather long and winding spiritual journey. The motivational fuel for this journey was provided by these sometimes conflicting traits:

* An inherent belief in the existence of the mystical realm

* An unrelenting skepticism towards the unproven claims of mystics

* An insatiable curiosity about the mind, science and technology

During the course of my journey, I’ve investigated, explored, and sometimes been consumed by the following:

Roman Catholicism, agnosticism, Hinduism Light, Transcendental Meditation, Buddhism, Ethnobotany, Fundamentalist Christianity, atheism, and most recently, Enlightened Realism. As I describe in my book, it’s essentially an evidence-based belief in a completely natural, non-mystical, non-supernatural universe.

Educational background: Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.

Born and raised in the Chicago area, I now live in the Pacific Northwest, where both the weather and coffee are conducive to philosophic ponderings and general contemplation about the big questions of life.
